On Tuesday, Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan announced that they will form an independent health care company for their employees in the United States.
“The new company will aim to tackle the heath care insurance options for the employees of the three companies. Amazon topped 541,000 employees as of the third quarter of 2017, according to the company’s records; JP Morgan Chase & Co., the largest U.S. bank, has more than 240,000 employees; and Berkshire Hathaway, a holding company, has more than 367,000 employees”
The details on the newly formed healthcare company were sparse. It is plausible that home care options could be favored by these companies, to keep people out of the hospital and cut costs. Its unclear how they will overhaul the healthcare plans, but due to their high profiles, its clear that other businesses will be watching.
