Posted on Friday, March 4, 2016 9:19 AM

CMS announced a final rule that requires a face-to-face encounter for beneficiaries receiving Medicaid home health services with additional enhancements to the Medicaid program. The final rule requires that the physician must document the reason for the face-to-face no more than 90 days before or 30 days after the start of services. The rule provides the Medicare timeframes for the face-to-face encounter for home health services and medical supplies, equipment, and appliances. The physician or authorized NPP must document the face-to-face no more than six months prior to the start of services to order medical supplies, equipment, or appliances. The rule also provides for the use of telehealth. For the full article, click here.
