Yelp Partners With ProPublica

Yelp, the company that publishes crowd-sourced reviews about local businesses, has partnered with ProPublica to allow information from ProPublica's interactive health databases to begin appearing on Yelp's healthcare provider pages. Yelp users will now be able to read about consumers' experiences with providers, and see objective data about how the providers' practice patterns compare to their peers. As part of this new relationship, ProPublica will get an unprecedented look inside Yelp's 1.3 million health reviews.
Consumers on Yelp tend to review providers in the same way they do restaurants - on how they feel they're treated. Unlike Healthgrades, a site which focuses solely on reviewing healthcare providers, Yelp allows consumers to post comments. Healthcare professionals should take notice as Yelp can sink a provider's reputation even if the provider's professional skills are perfectly fine.
