Deborah L. Scholl

Debbie has worked in the home care and hospice industry for 25 years, as a staff nurse, in Quality Improvement, as Risk Management/Education Coordinator and as Home Care and Hospice Director. She helped start a not-for-profit hospice and a private duty agency, lead an agency through its first Joint Commission and CHAP accreditations, and organized the transition from a hospital-based to a for-profit home health and hospice provider. Having worked in several venues, Debbie understands the differences in health department, hospital and corporate agencies.

In 1997, Debbie was awarded Board Certification as a Home Health Nurse from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She received her Masters of Science in Management in 1999 from Baker University. Her home care and hospice experience has been broadened by development of policies, procedures and competencies, and by initiating quality improvement, risk management, infection control and home infusion programs. Debbie gained knowledge while managing a sales/marketing team that doubled home care referrals and increased hospice referrals by 200%. While recently designing home care/hospice software, Debbie experienced the profound impact of technology on our industry.

As a 2004-2005 NAHC board member and past Kansas Home Care Association board member and president, Debbie maintains an excellent network of professional relationships. She has been privileged to present to community and professional groups in local, state and national arenas. As a patient advocate who believes that home care and hospice are the preferred providers of care for the frail and elderly, she understands the industry’s past and its future opportunities. Debbie works closely with clients to understand their unique needs and to discover ways to conserve resources by integrating CHEX into their education and orientation programs.
